If the window hasn't passed for you to edit your post might I recommend editing the first sentence:
To start this week, make 48 HSTs from dark and light fabrics that will measure 2-1/2” square when pressed and trimmed as needed.
From reading the rest of your instructions, you mean 2" square.
Then again, maybe not as you want to sew them to 2-1/2" square pieces of fabric. OK - officially colour me confused.
