I don't think minky shrinks or bleeds and I have used it for several backs. But if you would feel better washing it, it won't hurt anything, either. What it will do is shed when you cut it, but that will stop, so don't let it worry you. Just be ready to vacuum after you cut
It makes for a very cozy feeling quilt!
