I made a disappearing 9 patch just before this one (not an I Spy). I found this was much easier to make as a sashed square than the d9p. My suggestion is to double check the squares are actually 5" before you use them. I didn't and had to rip some stuff out and make new squares as the seams wouldn't match up because the squares were not actually 5X5. Of course, I'm a beginning quilter and still make lots of mistakes. Mr. Seam Ripper seems to be a constant companion.
