I agree with
FelineFanatic ...
* the ghost marks that
QuiltnNan mentioned is likely from Frixion markers. I have never seen that happen with actual quilt markers.
* also, for the "official" markers, may become permanent if heated with an iron.
* Likewise, water on top of some of the air erasables may set them into the fabric.
As always, it is best to test test test ... and test some more ... while replicating all aspects of the process.
