I have always liked this site for baby quilts. Ribbon box is my favorite, but there are a few nice, easy ones that do not require too much "color" fabric.

Thank you for posting the link to the quilt patterns. I agree with your sugggestion of asking the future Mom to be to pick a few fat quarters. I also like the idea of a crayon quilt, zoo animals, or ABC quilt.
