Quilt shops I've been to (not sure how close to downtown you mean) are: Modern Quilts on Cactus Road, 35th Avenue on 3548 West Northern Avenue; south of Phoenix: 3 Dudes on Eliot Road, Quilter's Ranch on Warner & McClintock, another 35th Avenue on Ray Road and Rural. I'm sure others from the Phoenix area will have more.
