Default Quilt shops near downtown Phoenix

Hi I am new here and just getting back into quilting now that I am retired. I am from Windsor Ontario Canada. I will be in Phoenix next week for a conference with a company called Forever( my other hobby) and would like to visit some quilt shops. I will be downtown, are there any in that area? Thanks and I look forward to checking out this forum

Welcome to the Board. Quilt shops I've been to (not sure how close to downtown you mean) are: Modern Quilts on Cactus Road, 35th Avenue on 3548 West Northern Avenue; south of Phoenix: 3 Dudes on Eliot Road, Quilter's Ranch on Warner & McClintock, another 35th Avenue on Ray Road and Rural. I'm sure others from the Phoenix area will have more.

If you are looking for bargains, there are 2 locations of SAS Fabrics. I go to the one in Tempe fairly often . They are definitely NOT lovely LQS experience type places...more like a warehouse, but there are 100's of bolts of quilting fabric for $4/yard. It comes from many different sources, so pay attention to the label/quality. Last time I was there I got about 17 yards for about $35. (The clerk was generous with her cuts) Several batiks and some lovely RJR fabrics. No frills shopping and great bargains.
