I use the serpentine stitch occasionally. On some my earlier quilts, particularly trying to use flannel for the backing, I would get a pucker in back and not know it at the time. If I had to rip a few inches out and re-stitch, I had the devil of a time getting those serpentine squiggles to line up with what was already there. Mostly, they did not match up.
