Barb in Louisana, At first she said to cut the dark squares into triangles, then probably realized that she had us draw lines on the light squares in Part #1, which means you cut after sewing. It's just for making HSTs, so it doesn't really matter if you cut the dark squares, or didn't cut them. Part #2 is posted on the website. It seems easier to get the clues there:
