The method that worked best for me, both from a limited waste and precision point of view - was to cut all the triangles (both the wings and the geese) then match them. The only adjustments I had to make was to snip the little triangle edge seams.

I used the "Easy Angle" ruler for the wings, and the "Companion" ruler for the geese ... because I already had this ruler. Looking at Bonnie's "Essential Triangle" tool, I wish I had that instead because it will do the work of both the Easy Angle and the Companion triangle.

I made the chevrons using the "mark and cut" method because I didn't trust myself to cut the parallelograms accurately. Lots of waste.
