Sorry, Teen. While Bob did have a James (great-grandfather) and a William (grandfather) in his genealogy ( https://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/D...Family-Tree-20 ) neither was the person Denver CO was named after. SusieQOH evidently lots thought Welk was Polish. While he was born in North Dakota it was a settlement founded by a lots of immigrants from Russia, but originally were Germans in France. From some of the sources I read, such as http://www.encyclopedia.com/people/l.../lawrence-welk Welk did not speak English until he was 21.

Its interesting so many of the founding fathers died on July 4th.
