after fishing around for waaaaay too long online trying to find it i finally realized i could just look at the manual online for the mc15000 to get the foot number.
the manual shows three:
Free motion quilting closed-toe foot QC

Free motion quilting open-toe foot QO
Free motion quilting zigzag foot QV (I have never heard of free-motion zig-zag. never occurred to me to even try such a thing. that might look pretty kewl.)

I have got to try at least one of these.
and experiment with using the zig-zag stitch during free-motion.
heck ... i don't even know yet whether my mc8900 will even allow it.
