Do you take lysine? It is an amino acid, completely safe and is very effective in combating the virus that causes cold sores. It works by starving the virus. At the first tingle take very high doses for several days I ususally take 5 - 8,000 mg for a few days then around 4,000 for a few more then 1000 for a couple of weeks.

I have a tendency to get cold sores that seem to take forever to go away. Thanks Mjp for your information, I didn’t think about the connection between cold sores and shingles.
