I know the feeling. What I usually do is use a dark background to make the blocks pop (and to make the blocks look better -LOL). I recently made these sampler blocks and was not really pleased with my color choice, so I used a very dark background and made the blocks wonky so it would not be so plain. Although this is a miniature quilt, the idea is still the same for larger quilts.

I like what you did with your blocks. The dark background does make it "hold together" and the wonky setting makes the blocks look playful.
