Sampler Type Quilts/Blocks
I am laying out some blocks that I made years ago. At the time, I thought they were pretty good.
I think some of them are still pretty good.
There are some, though, that if I had known then what I know now - would be different!
I am still pleased with most of the construction - just not so impressed with some of my fabric choices in some of the blocks - not enough contrast - very clunky/chunky looking in places -
I still like most of the fabrics I used - just not in the proportions in some of the blocks.
Ah, well. More learn and live!

Yup, been there.......recently "found" some 12"blocks-4-
that I knew would not go any further..so, dug out the insulbrite, scrap batting, odd fab for back, leaving enough to wrap to front for faux binding, did some "modern" quilting, pulled that back edges up, sewed down and finished! Gave to gds to use as table hot dish pads........now the orphan blocks have a job!

I know the feeling. What I usually do is use a dark background to make the blocks pop (and to make the blocks look better -LOL). I recently made these sampler blocks and was not really pleased with my color choice, so I used a very dark background and made the blocks wonky so it would not be so plain. Although this is a miniature quilt, the idea is still the same for larger quilts.

My early projects are questionable! I didn't have a grasp on color value and it really affects the overall look.
But it's fun to see how far we've come from the beginning of this adventure.
I really like what Sheep Farmer did.
