Our whole house is built of steel with steel roof and good for 30 years without repair. We have phone service put in and computer service and TV service from day one. Only problem has been a door bell...or lack of because it will not come through the steel siding. Dh was creative and installed a wire 'ringer' that is connected to a small dinner bell inside the house. No problems with the phones or fax machines.
A move to the center of a pasture sounds like a very good idea...peace and quiet to quilt and to enjoy the sun rising and setting.
