That's how I've been sewing my hexies. I don't use tape to keep them together, though. I've been using two of Karen Kay Buckley's thin pins on the right side of the fabric.and sometimes a Clover mini clip. I've found this way better on my hands too. So far, I've only had one Quilt Policewoman remark upon my unconventional way of sewing these but I just smiled and kept on sewing. I like the results.
