I'm making a lot of lap quilts for a residents at an assisted living home. I am using fleece as the backing. I can find the extra wide different colored solid or patterned fleece for $2 a yard at Walmart. It gives the quilts some heft so they stay on the lap but are still soft. Holds up to a lot of washings too.
