I have not used fleece for backing yet...only minky. After seeing how cute 1000scraps quilts are, I’ll be confident in giving it a try next time.

Thanks, y'all, for the info here! I am going to use fleece on baby quilts! I have a ton of the stuff and am running out of batting. I'm trying to reduce my stash by making many baby quilts for donations.

My grandson made this last year for his dog and I used fleece as the backing and also folded it over for the binding. It was a nice quality fleece and worked very well.

I'm making a lot of lap quilts for a residents at an assisted living home. I am using fleece as the backing. I can find the extra wide different colored solid or patterned fleece for $2 a yard at Walmart. It gives the quilts some heft so they stay on the lap but are still soft. Holds up to a lot of washings too.

This is something that never occurred to me to try. I have pieced a lot of fleece to make the back big enough. I'll have to give using something else. If your woven fabric is lighter than the fleece, what do you do to make the edges equally thick as the main body of the quilt?

Wow, I need to find a Walmart like yours!! By extra wide, do you meant 108" or the 60" that fleece usually comes in? I'd be happy to find either size at $2 a yard!!

I’ve used fleece and I’ve used flannel for a backing on a baby quilt. Both looked great.
