I had a quilt pucker on the back only one time. I was recovering from shoulder surgery and that limitation affected my basting the quilt. The back was a solid color, and the pleat was really noticeable. I decided to fold the pleat over and sew it down like you described. It was still noticeable.

I entered it into a national show and received a Judges Choice ribbon... It's the only quilt that I have ever won a ribbon for at a national show. The judge must not have looked at the back.

I gave it away to the first person who said that they liked the colors. It still bothers me.
