I now have this machine cleaned, oiled and mounted in a treadle that I bought for it over the weekend. It's not a singer treadle, this one has the word "Sister " written in the foot peddle and the rear support brace. After reading some of the post here I feel obligated to find a genuine singer treadle to put it in. Anyway, my 1905 Singer Lotus has sewn it's first stitches in 70 years or more.
