I also wash (washable) fabrics before cutting. In fact, I soak them in hot water for a couple of hours before they get to the washing machine.
I don't know - for sure - until after I have washed and dried a fabric how it will behave.
It it ends up being a dud - I would much rather know before I put it into an item than after!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
