I did that one year, but I crocheted them with 100% cotton yarn. I made some with the tops a different color, and some all one color. The top continues into a long tab with a buttonhole near the end, which flips over onto itself over the bar and buttons onto the body of the towel at the top. I looked up patterns on the computer and kind of modified what I found to be what I wanted.
