I just checked both of mine. (Yes, I have two embossed. The oldest, Betty, is SN: 1X3005. The younger one, Martha, has an FR serial number.) Anyway, Betty has a plain silver center hub on the friction wheel, and no extra flange in the center. It came of easily when I released the hex set-screw. Martha's has a dark center (maybe just tarnish) but it also released easily when I loosened the flat head screw. No problem with either one.

Not sure if that's any help, but at lease you have some more comparisons.
