Carol, as long as your yardage colors are the right value, I don't see how not having a variety of fabrics would make the pattern less visible. I think you will be fine!
I have read the clue once, now going back for a second read through. I have to test it out, but for those using Easy Angle instead of Bonnie's ruler, I think right handers will have to cut with the blue on top in order to get the trimmed dog ear in the right place.
I think this is the most mysterious mystery ever!
