Colorado, I totally understand and commend you that you were able to keep up on this and figure out her clues with this quilt, especially since this was your first time doing a BHMQ. Absolutely, if you dont love it dont do it. Thankfully, there are other quilts these units can go into and you can make something you will love. This is my 5th year for doing her mystery quilt and has been the most confusing to me, but I do love it and will do it a little at a time. Maybe the reason her instructions were not so scrappy this time is because it is such a busy quilt. I am not really loving the FG borders on it, not sure what I will do. I think next year I will wait to do the clues to be sure I really like it.
