My friend Cindi is making a memory quilt for family members of a relative who recently passed. She's using clothing items, and there's a lot of lacy fabrics and eyelet fabrics. We discussed it and one of our concerns was the quilting foot catching (especially the eyelet fabrics) as it was being quilted. She decided to put a layer of tulle on top and quilt over that. Maybe that would be a good solution to your situation?
