Default Quilting

Some of the better things about quilting as an acitivity -

The basic premise is a top layer of fabric, a filling, another layer of fabric - and the three layers are held together somehow.
(I wonder if glueing counts now?)

One can start out relatively inexpensively - and go on to mega-spending

There are lots of ways of creating a top/flimsy - piecing, one piece, applique, embroidery - lots of variations on those - skill levels from "this is a needle?" t0 breathtaking work - no need to get bored -

All skill levels are welcome to play -

One can participate in groups - or work on a project all by oneself -

One does not need to have special shoes to work on a project -

Down sides to quilting -

People seem to mind if they step on a dropped pin or needle

It can become obsessive/addictive

Playing darts or pool seem to be more acceptable in bars than piecing and/or knitting

One has to put the fabric down while eating, showering, or driving
