Yesterday and today I did a little more quilting on the large, heavy art piece. I can only do a little at a time because I've done something to my left elbow and it just gets too sore to keep going more than about 15 minutes.

Here's a sneak peak at the thread painted butterfly. It'll be a couple more weeks as the backing fabric still needs to be dyed. I sandwiched this one with a layer of Hobbs 80/20 and thread painted it. Then I added a thick layer of wool and another layer of Hobs 80/20 and a trapuntoed it. Then I cut away the excess and added another layer of batting and a backing fabric that will end up being hidden and did the basic quilting. Next I layered it with some hand painted tie stabilizers (the light tan fabric) and a piece of my hand paint/dyed fabric and tacked it all down together. Now it just needs the final backing and quilting! Yay! Hopefully it will be finished in time for the next VQW.
