Does anyone remember half-fitted sheets, for the top sheet? Elastic at the foot end, regular sheet at the head end.. This was when I was a kid, so 1960's.
As I was reading all of the comments, I remembered the fitted top sheets I had received as a wedding gift in 1970. I loved them because they didn't ever pull out. I also used a lot of plain flat bottom sheets when a fitted wouldn't work.
