Actually, the vibrating shuttle machines aren't all that bad and make a very nice straight stitch.

I think with the new laser cutters there are new ones being made and sold on ebay as vintage or antique keys. In the meantime I would suggest looking at https://oldsingersewingmachineblog.c...nd-how-not-to/ I made one from a fork, the one with purple plastic was actually made by locksmith, the other was a key blank that my brother cut.


Also, it has been advised that one should not try to lift or carry these bentwood cases by the handle. They have a tendency to have the bottom fall out - literally and physically which can be damaging to the person and machine.
