as a newly diagnosed diabetic i can tell you that fruit is not healthy. it has a lot of carbs which is what a diabetic is watching. diabetics are looking at 150 carbs a day.(1200-1400 calories a day) one half of a banana has 25 -30 carbs that is basically a whole meals worth of carbs.
