Mickey, it's not that bad. One medium banana, a whole one, is 27 carbs, and you get to subtract out the 3 carbs that are fiber. That's 24 carbs, and that's half - or less than half - of what you can have at a meal. I got the carb/fiber count here:

How many carbs and calories you can have each day depends on how bad your diabetes is. If you were just diagnosed with Type 2, chances are you'll be able to control it with diet - a fairly normal diet, but one that doesn't allow overeating and bingeing.
A normal diet is supposed to be 50 - 60% carbs, 25% proteins and 25% fats. Unless you are very tiny (and totally sedentary) or were put on a weight-loss diet, 1400 calories/day isn't really enough.
But for argument's sake, half of 1400 calories is 700. You need to get 700 calories from carbs each day. Each carb is 4 calories, which means you'd need 175 carbs/day. That's about 60 carbs per meal, and you can flex it a little.
And realize, you should probably be eating closer to 1800 - 2200 calories per day. Which means more carbs per meal.
One last thing: FRUIT IS VERY HEALTHY! It has fiber and vitamins and minerals and things like pectin. And, yes, carbs, and we NEED carbs, just not an unlimited amount.
