I remember this pattern from somewhere. If you break it down, the 'star' block is a scrappy 4 patch center with constant colour flying geese making the star points and then scrappy corner squares. It would be an easy 12 inch block. The secondary block is only half the size in width--two scrappy squares on the top, one background square the same size as the 4 patch center in the first block, then two more scrappy squares on the bottom.
At least that is the way that my eyes are seeing it. Easy to draw out on graph paper or in EQ.
