You are right. The major difference is that the larger white pieces in the quilt appear to be one piece and the ones in the pattern are multi pieces. I would never have thought to make the blocks that way. Of course, I was focusing on the white as being a single piece of fabric. And they did use 2 inch finished squares just as I thought to begin with. Good find.

Wow!! How different it looks on Toogie's link, but yes, it is the same layout.
