Ahhhh, the good old days…not! Cardboard templates cut from cereal boxes, trace around them with pencil and cut out with scissors. It took forever and you didn’t get the accuracy that rotary cutting and rulers give. Tip…we used to glue fine sandpaper on the back of the cardboard template to prevent slipping when tracing.
