I use painter's tape and tape my backing to a wall. Then I spray stick on my batting and finally my top. It's a lot of work. I just bought pool noodles and am trying them. Right now my top and batting are wound on noodles, I just need to make my backing.

Your method looks like it would be a challenge to keep out the wrinkles.
