Go for it! What's not to love? Work at your own pace. Learn new techniques. Something new all the time. If you have no time, you can wait until later. I love BOMs.
My perspective may be skewed because of the kind of piecer that I am... I never finish BOMs because I run off to the next project; generally due to lack of time to stay on task. But that is not a problem for me. I love the variety. I love the fabric selection process. UFOs do not bother me.
If the pace of BOMs is going to drive you batty, you may want to wait until it is over so you can knock it out at one time. Or do a bunch of BOMs at the same time.
