my habit to cut them off as I go because years ago I saw someone else's ort jar full of dogears from just one quilt, so occassionally do the same like when making a bonnie hunter mystery. Lots of bulk and weight there. If I made big block quilts 12" + I probably wouldn't go out of my way, other than it is habit now. most of my blocks are 4-8" with Lots of pieces.

In the same vein, some years ago I gave myself permission to not give a hoot if the same fabric landed next to each other. A real breath of fresh air, and it doesn't bother me a bit in my finished quits. try it you might like it
