Mackerel For Tuna
I've been shopping at the $ store lately to save a little money. One item that I always pick up is canned mackerel. I've found that you can substitute it for canned tuna, which is much more expensive and may have a higher mercury content. (I also have tried to find out how the mackerel is fished, but that's been hard to figure out.) Mackerel is high in Omega-3s and the type that I buy is not packed in cottonseed oil, but water instead.
I'm on the hunt for some good recipes that feature mackerel, or tuna. I already use it for mackerel salad sandwiches, but I'm thinking maybe some tapas recipes would be fun. Got any ideas?
