I think the main thing is that you need to do is to make something that goes around the neck--it can be fabric, ribbon, etc and from it you should attach whatever you want to that you feel is important for hand sewing. The ideas are unlimited and you can spend a lot or a little bit of money. Please post a picture of it when you finish. I would love to see what you make!!
