Welcome. I use the little self-adhesive leather or rubber thimbles. The leather are just a little round circle and the rubbery ones are clear ovals. They're available in most fabric stores and can be used over and over. There are also rubbery and leather full size thimbles available. If you buy a full size leather thimble don't get the ones at walmart because they're very stiff. The natural color ones (rather than white) are the most supple.
