jshep, For fabric,I always look at what pleases me. I like to find lights mediums and darks in the same family.Then I even try to find the in between tones too. I like solids and prints or florals together. My main love is art quilts. or scenes. So I look at fabric and see skies,waters, trees, tree bark. old wood for barns or houses. Right now am doing a quilt with old barns and different animals in it. I hand applique,needle turn.i look for grasses,and rocks etc. long winded arent I. And this is just a start.
