It needs to be the washable school glue. Had to laugh because hubby uses "plain old Elmer's" for his wood working and that would be a disaster in a quilt.
I use the glue stick from Dritz or UHU makes a washable glue in stick form.
When using a glue stick and the push pin no loner advances the glue, you can use a firm-bristle artist brush to get the rest of the glue out of the stick. Just dab it on the brush and spread it on the fabric. Wash the brush with soapy water. Worked for me like a charm.
