[DEAR] JANE STICKLE CYBER BLOCK PARTY - Jan 2010 thru May/Jun 2011
#5521
I saw something recently about the Dear Jane quilt..you know how you look at patterns and they are rated "beginner" "intermediate" etc.? Someone called it "all levels"!!! Are you kidding me...can you imagine that being your first quilt? You'd never go back to it once you got done with the 9 patch!!

I SO agree esq, definately not just a beginner...beginner. I think they tried it on a bit giving us the easy blocks to begin with LOL then they hit us with those others, so glad I have that part over.
However, donīt let the above put anyone off, its a wonderful learning curve and so beautiful when its done and definately a Heirloom Quilt

It shouldn't put anyone off, but I think if you are truly a beginner - first quilt sort of thing, I would not want to touch it with a 10-foot pole. I think someone who has not tried various methods - applique, sewing curves, etc., and is a beginner at those will be just fine...

I think you would be fine as long as you are not a "beginner" sewing. If you can sew a straight line, know how to pin/glue, follow directions and are a bit creative then I think you could do it. I tend to jump into things that are waaaaayyyyy over my ability level, lol, but I always learn a lot! Oh...and you would really really really have to want to do this particular quilt! LOL!

I received my software from the Electric Quilt Company yesterday but I haven't had time to play with it. I can't wait to use it but I am determined to finish the quilt I am working on and not JTG with another quilt until I'm through quilting this 117" x 120" bear. I get sore arms from wrestlig with it on my Janome 11000.

sandpat, I agree with you. If i rolled this quilt up, it would never fit through he machine opening. Right now I am busy ripping out the machine embroidery I did. The quilt was so heavy that the stitches would not lock. I am going back to my walking foot and straight stitching.
