1-June-2014 Project of the Month, Microwave Fabric Bowl, Photo's.

I love fat quarter Monday, FQs are $2 each so I stock up especially with novelty prints.
While I was sick for the past month, the inventory dropped to just 10 bowls in only three different fabrics. Rebuilding like crazy and the fat quarters will give a huge variety!

i just finished mine...i don't like mine as well as the ones others have posted...but it'll work. the one in back and the one in front are the same fabrics, pic just shows both sides; and the one on the left is for my husband. he wanted the orange side out bec he likes it better. (i know they're reversible)...i didn't quilt mine as much as i could have. the next ones i make i may try to do that, but these are ok for a first go at it.
thanks so much for this really great project! simple, easy, and i didn't have to buy anything to do it! i told my friend about it, she's a home ec teacher at a local junior high, and she's going to have her students make one too!

Here is the very first one I made. It was a kit I bought back at the Paducah show. I had finished it, then I realized two things. One the size is so small compared to the pattern here and two I don't think I used 100% cotton thread. Yikes, I love the material. So with my trusty seam ripper, I ripped all my quilting out and all the stitches while I was on a road trip. Came home and finished the bowl using 100 % cotton and here it is. It was more work yet I am glad I did it. Not buying a kit again, as the directions weren't good. I do love making these.
