I'd also like to share a quilt my aunt and i just got a friend with a long arm to quilt it for her. She did the fancy work panel on an apron when she was a teenager and the "fish scales" she sewed all by hand when she was in her late 80's she is now approaching her 91st birthday.

It amazes me what a difference scrappy as opposed to controlled makes in how the table runners look. Betty yours seems to lend itself to a country kitchen feel, whereas yours Fay, seems to go well with a more formal table. Both turned out really well. I am doing scrappy but I really like the effect of the constant fabrics. It really makes me want to experiment with the constant colorway.

M-Fay and oksewnsew they are both beautiful. Really like the scrappy but the controlled look is very nice. Batiks are/would be lovely with this block.

I have added six more blocks to mine and am working on the final border and hope to finish piecing it next week. I had bought a 5" half-hexagon shape from Missouri Star quilt co. at the Quiltcon show and have been anxious to try it out. It can make a french braid border and that's what I've been working on. It's a real scrap burner! I may have to do one of the braid strip quilts with it too.

I found my fairy fabric today!! Woohoo!! Now I need to decide what colors I want to put with it and how to put it together. We have cold weather coming again so it will be good for sewing the next week or so.
Some lovely quilts showing up. Thanks for the inspiration.

All the runners look so different! Lovely, every one of them. I set aside some of my red/white/blue scraps to make this when I can. That will be a runner. I also have an idea for a dog quilt with this pattern...if I ever get time to do it!
