Block of the Month June 15, 2007 - Log Cabin - The Photos

Here are my itty-bitty log cabins. The individual blocks finish at 3 inches and the big block will finish at 6 inches. Paper piecing all the way!
Here are the four with a sample of the pattern I was using.

Just a tad wonky. I'll pull the paper out this evening and then "block" it into submission!

Sarah,
Each little log was finishing at 3/8" wide so I needed a method of keeping everything stable while I was sewing. I also like the crisp look I get when I'm finished with a paper pieced block. Points are sharp, seams are usually less wonky. It's just a personal preference.

I love your logs. I just got a magazine with a log cabin quilt that has 140 7 inch blocks. I am thinking seriously about making it, but will probably do that as a side type activity while I do others. I hope the colors come out as nice as yours.
