Dojo, sometimes her instructions leave something to be desired for sure. The ones that you cut on the diagonal started out as a 4-7/8 X9-3/4 strip that you get all 4 HSTs from.

Hi Catchergirl:
Your quilt is gorgeous. When I put my Friendship Star together I wanted it longer as our nephews are getting taller and needed more length so I added another row and didn't pay attention to the split background... really lousied up the quilt by not paying attention! FOR ALL WHO MAKE A SPLIT BACKGROUND...IT'S BEST TO DO THE LAYOUT AS CATCHERGIRL HAS DONE..ADDING BLOCKS IS FINE BUT i WOULD SUGGEST DOING THE SPLIT BACKGROUND FOR THE 9 CENTER BLOCKS AND AND DOING THE PLAIN BACKGROUND FOR THE ADD-ONS. Does that make sense? I have my Friendship Quilt posted...take a look at it and you'll see how messy it is. I have it hanging here and plan to tear it apart and re-do it as I don't like it at all the way it is.

This is part of my sampler quilt but it is one of the past BOM's so I thought I would post it here too.

Karenmay, I love the pastels too. They remind me of time gone by.
