Those are some gorgeous blocks, ladies. The fussy cut pansies sure are cute.

I am totally intimidated, tho. I have just printed out the paper piecing patterns for Mother and Mrs. Anderson. Now I have to figure out how to paper piece-- ack! Everything is so darned tiny....

Pam P, I looked back at what you were talking about with the dots, and then I seen the difference, but I also think they are so pretty.

QuiltingNinaSue, your blocks are so pretty. I love those little pansy faces. I always say they have little faces. The purple with the batik is so pretty too.

JanRN, there is two more pretty ones you have made. Your blocks look great to me.

I don't even have my Monette done yet, but do have it started. Here is why! (seeing my dad quite unresponsive, but I think he was a bit better today, and then got word that my sister that's 4 years younger than me fell and broke both feet, and to end my evening I got a call from my clinic and they said I am at the very least a carrier for Hemachromatosis, but it will take Genetic testing to know if I am a carrier or have it active. Now I have to tell my siblings that they need to be tested. My son has the same thing.) I hope all of you girls had a better day!

My favorite line in "Gone With the Wind", "I will think about it tomorrow. Tomorrow is another day." lol....My hubby calls me Scarlett. lol...

You have a lot on your shoulders now, Susan. One day at a time. Lifting you up in prayer....

Well, here is my very first 30's FW block, paper pieced, no less! I think I have figured out the paper piecing thing, more or less. Here is Mrs. Anderson:

I hope these blocks are not supposed to come out at 6.5" square, to finish later at 6".... Mine was just a shade over 6" from raw edge to raw edge. I trimmed it down ('shaved' would be a more accurate term) to 6".

Well done, Sewbizgirl. Very well done for your first in paper piecing!

Susan, you have so much on your plate, but take it one moment at a time...and it will all workout for you...I know it will. Trust in the One above your own way.

The flowers are not pansies although they look a lot like them. These are an ate-able flower I love to plant every year or freeze them in ice cubes.

Wow, Sewbiz, if that's your first attempt you are going to ace paperpiecing. Very well done! As to size, they're supposed to measure 6 1/2 UNFINISHED. When I measure mine, the majority are 6 1/4 but I have a few that are 6 3/4 and some that are only 6. I'll block, stretch and fudge them to fit--the sashings can be adjusted a little, too.

Very proud of you that you jumped right in!!!

Will be thinking of you, Susan, and sending positive thoughts your way.

What great blocks from everyone this week! Sewbizgirl, your first attempt at paper piecing is as close to perfect as anyone can get. And JanRN, I wish I'd studied Mother's pattern more before I started her. What a smart revision!

You girls have been talking about dots and didn't understand at first then went back to the block to see...It's almost undiscernible.. ( couldn't think of another word)...

Great job Sewbiz.. I find when I don't pp or use a guide my seams are bigger than 1/4". most of my blocks are coming out at 6 3/8". I'll be setting them on point so there won't be a problem...

Katybob, is that an initial "P" in the middle of your block.it sure looks like it

Susan, Sending hugs your way...

Thanks everyone for your well wishes.

One wonderful thing I have to share today is that my son and daughter in law are going to have a special ceremony in September to say their wedding vows again for their anniversary. I look forward to this. He is my only child.

You girls are making wonderful blocks. Each block is so pretty.

Sewbizgirl, wow, you did a great job on your very first paper pieced block. It's beautiful. I don't know about you, but these blocks have helped me to really learn and understand the paper piecing process. I am hooked on them now. I am still working on my Monette, but I am having fun, and hope to have a bit more time this week to do some sewing. Maybe I will get a bit more caught up.

One question I have. When you girls that started on time last year finish everything, will the rest of us still just keep posting as we have been on the designated week for the block we are on until we finish? Can we still yell for help if we need it? lol.....

Have a great rest of the week everyone.

I think that we might just keep the last thread going until all the blocks are done & everyone is finished.
What do all of you think about that????
